President Mahmoud Abbas today awarded the European Union Representative, Sven Kuhn von Burgsdorff, the Star of Jerusalem medal during a reception at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah as Burgsdorff on the occasion of the end of his duties. The President awarded Burgsdorff the Star of Jerusalem in recognition of his distinguished role in strengthening the relations of friendship and cooperation between Palestine and the European Union and in appreciation of his efforts in supporting the Palestinian people and their just struggle to achieve their freedom and independence. The ceremony was attended by Member of the PLO Executive Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Ziad Abu Amr, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad Malki, the Official Spokesman for the Presidency Nabil Abu Rudeineh, and Adviser to the President for Diplomatic Affairs Majdi al-Khalidi.
