Two smugglers arrested in their possession a large amount of drugs, south of Basra

A force from the Fourth Region Border Forces Command arrested two smugglers in their possession a large quantity of drugs, south of Basra.

A source in the Command told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: “An Iranian boat was spotted heading to the Iraqi side in Al-Maamer area, south of Basra, and threw a plastic container on the bank of Shatt Al-Arab, and returned quickly to the Iranian side.”

He added, “the container was carried in a vehicle that was intercepted by a force from the Coastal Command, and a man and his wife who were in it were arrested, after an exchange of fire with them, which resulted in the injury of the driver and a member of the Command.

He explained that: “It was found that the vessel carries 6 kg of narcotic crystal.”
