WASHINGTON, Nov. 13, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — EB5 Capital, a prominent leader in the EB-5 investment industry, is pleased to announce that investors in their NYC Ritz-Carlton (JF22) project have started receiving I-829 approvals from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). USCIS issues I-829 approvals, or permanent residency, to investors who have met stringent USCIS vetting requirements and demonstrated that their EB-5 investment created at least ten full-time jobs for the US economy.

JF22 is a 250-room luxury hotel development with 16 penthouse condominiums in the NoMad district of Manhattan in New York City. The 38-story Marriott branded hotel is centrally located, just north of Madison Square Park, adjacent to the 28th Street subway station, and less than a 10-minute walk to both Grand Central Station and Penn Station. The hotel’s food and beverage program is managed by world-class Michelin-starred chef, José Andrés.

“Reaching the I-829 approval stage is a critical milestone in the EB-5 immigration process,” said Brian Ostar, President of EB5 Capital. “It indicates to USCIS that the project was built, the jobs were created, and the EB-5 investors are now eligible for permanent residency. We are very pleased with this first approval notice in our JF22 Ritz-Carlton project, and we look forward to receiving additional approvals from USCIS soon.”

EB5 Capital played a vital role in financing the construction of this project by successfully raising $184 million to support its development. The hotel opened to the public in July 2022 and created over 4,200 jobs for New York City, more than enough jobs to support all 368 foreign investors in the project. JF22 is one of many EB5 Capital projects across the US contributing to job creation and economic growth, demonstrating the firm’s commitment to making a positive economic impact wherever it invests.

Bombardier Defense Delivers Seventh Global Aircraft for Saab’s GlobalEye Airborne Surveillance Solution

  • Bombardier’s Global aircraft brings its formidable performance into Saab’s GlobalEye airborne surveillance platforms, a solution equipped with sensors for all air, sea and land domains
  • Modern business jets are being increasingly recognized as strategic assets for military forces across the world

MONTRÉAL, Nov. 12, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Bombardier Defense is proud to announce the seventh Global aircraft delivery to defense and security company Saab, ready to be transformed into Saab’s Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) solution known as GlobalEye. This new delivery comes as the two companies attend the Dubai Air Show 2023, where Bombardier presents its versatile Global and Challenger business jets to the Middle East market, and Saab showcases the leading capability of GlobalEye.

Bombardier’s latest Global aircraft delivery is destined to join the Swedish Air Force and will be Saab’s second GlobalEye aircraft to join Sweden’s military fleet. The 7 aircraft delivered by Bombardier to the GlobalEye program highlight a successful collaboration and echo Bombardier’s thriving, long-standing reputation manufacturing specialized aircraft for the defense industry.

“More and more countries are preparing for the future by choosing modern, more efficient business jets as strategic assets for their military fleet,” said Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive Vice-President, Aircraft Sales and Bombardier Defense. “With the rapid progression of technologies, there is a growing realization that business jets, such as our Global aircraft, can seamlessly integrate the equipment and capabilities that were traditionally carried by commercial aircraft.”

In addition to offering lower operating costs than commercial aircraft, Global business jets have takeoff and landing capabilities that allow them to fly in and out of more strategic locations. The agility granted by the steep approach certification and the advanced wing design of the Global aircraft is an advantageous feature to airborne surveillance platforms, designed for long-range air, maritime and ground surveillance.

As such, Saab’s GlobalEye incorporates some essential attributes of the Global business jet including over 11 hours of operational endurance, state-of-the-art avionics, and class-leading maintenance intervals. Paired with ample cabin space for workstations and mission equipment for ideal crew conditions, the Global aircraft is perfectly suited for situational awareness missions of large areas.

UNRWA Guesthouse in Gaza hit by Israeli forces’ naval bombardment

Yesterday, an UNRWA guesthouse in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip sustained significant damage from Israeli force naval strikes. UN international staff present in Rafah had left the building 90 minutes before the strike. No casualties were reported among the staff though the guesthouse was severely damaged. ‘This recent attack is yet another indication that nowhere in Gaza is safe. Not the north, not the middle areas and not the south. The disregard for the protection of civilian infrastructure including UN facilities, hospitals, schools, shelters and places of worship is testament to the level of horror that civilians in Gaza are living every day,’ said UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini. UN buildings and facilities currently host nearly 780,000 displaced people. They should be protected at all times. UNRWA shares coordinates of all of its facilities across the Gaza Strip with parties to the conflict. The coordinates of the UN international staff guesthouse were shared twice including on 10
November. Over the last month, UNRWA recorded collateral and direct damage to more than 60 of its facilities, mostly schools sheltering each thousands of civilians across the Gaza Strip. At least 66 displaced people were killed as a result and several hundreds injured. Of the total facilities damaged, 70 per cent were south of Wadi Gaza, in the middle and southern areas including Rafah and Khan Younis. Source: En – Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA

Amnesty International petition calls for ceasefire in Gaza

Over a million individuals from 167 countries have joined their voices in a petition organized by Amnesty International, urging an immediate cessation of the ongoing gunfire in Gaza. In a statement published on its official website, Amnesty International accused Israel of perpetrating war crimes, notably singling out the “extermination of entire families” among its alleged offences. The petition underscored the grievous situation, highlighting the systematic dehumanization of Palestinians. It condemned the deliberate targeting by Israeli authorities of densely populated areas such as refugee camps, hospitals, UN-operated schools, bakeries, and religious sites, alongside civilian homes and infrastructure. Erika Guevara-Rosas, Senior Director for Research, Advocacy, Policy, and Campaigns at Amnesty International, lamented the distressing reality, stating, “The world bears witness to the ongoing loss of civilian lives amidst relentless Israeli airstrikes and ground operations, unveiling an unprecedented man-
made humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.” “The intensified, unlawful siege imposed by Israel on Gaza has left two million people deprived of fundamental necessities, access to drinking water, food, medical provisions, and fuel. This severe deprivation has resulted in the collapse of the already strained healthcare system,” she added. Guevara-Rosas further underscored the harrowing toll, pointing to tens of thousands wounded and the forced displacement of at least 1.5 million residents from their homes in response to attacks and Israeli military directives to relocate to the southern region of the territory.

Jordan: Israel’s threat to use WMDs constitutes violation of jus cogens of international law

Jordan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Mahmoud Daifallah Hmoud said that “Israel’s threat to use weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) will not provide it with security or stability and constitute a violation of jus cogens of the international law.” “Israel won’t be able to enjoy security and stability without achieving a just, comprehensive, and long-lasting peace that upholds the Palestinian people’s rights to establish their independent, sovereign state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in compliance with international law, the UN Charter, and pertinent resolutions of international legitimacy,” Hmoud told the fourth session of the UN Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction on Monday. The greatest testament to Israel’s disrespect for global efforts to achieve a nuclear-weapon-free world is its steadfast refusal to take part in the conference, join the Treaty on the Non-Prol
iferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), and submit its nuclear facilities and operations to the IAEA’s comprehensive safeguards system, Hmoud added in his keynote speech at the conference. Hmoud noted that Israel has been threatening to drop an atomic bomb on innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip, among other options, through one of the current government’s ministers. He emphasized that WMDs and the threat to use them are internationally prohibited under international law and are considered a violation of jus cogens of the international law. Hmoud cited the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice regarding the threat or use of nuclear weapons. This is a threat to commit genocide, and all states have a responsibility to prevent it. “Our message in this conference is clear: we must redouble international efforts to establish the free zone. This is a responsibility that falls on the entire international community in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions, particularly Security Council
Resolutions No. 487 of 1981 and Resolution 687 of 1991 issued under Chapter Seven of the United Nations Charter,” Hmoud concluded.
