Everyone is entitled to feel safe in their community, school and workplace, but that often isn’t the reality,” said Greg Brown, chairman and CEO of Motorola Solutions. “How Motorola Solutions is helping keep people, property and places safe is far more comprehensive than ever. While we recognize technology is not the only way to a safer future, it does play a vital role, and it’s our purpose to make that technology the best it can be.”

Israel bombs Gaza’s only operating wheat mill- UN report

A recent report issued by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated the As-Salam Mill in Deir Al Balah was reportedly hit and destroyed. This was the last functioning mill in Gaza.

The report said its destruction means that locally produced flour will not be available in Gaza in the foreseeable future.

Israeli forces have reportedly been arresting some internally displaced persons (IDPs) fleeing through the “corridor” designated for them by the occupation, the report indicated, adding that there are anecdotal and eyewitness reports of some displaced persons being beaten and stripped of their clothing.

On Tuesday, the Israeli army established an unstaffed checkpoint and ordered the displaced to show their IDs and undergo what appears to be a facial recognition scan.

Over 1.5 million people in Gaza are estimated to be internally displaced, including about 813,000 IDPs who are staying in at least 154 UNRWA shelters.

UNRWA shelters are accommodating far more people
than their intended capacity. Overcrowding is leading to the spread of disease, including acute respiratory illness and diarrhea, raising environmental and health concerns.

House committee condemns Israel’s bombing near Jordanian hospital in Gaza

Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee denounced Israeli occupation’s bombing near Jordanian field hospital in Gaza.

In a statement Thursday, the committee said this bombing will not stop the field hospital staff’s operations towards people in the Gaza Strip, calling for necessity of holding Israeli war criminals accountable.

Additionally, the committee demanded the international community to take a “clear and frank” stance to condemn and halt Israeli war crimes.

The Israeli occupation forces bombed vicinity of the Jordanian field hospital, which injured seven medical staff while attempting to treat Palestinians wounded in an Israeli airstrike.

Abul Samen checks on progress in Amman-Zarqa BRT Project

Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abul Samen, Thursday checked on progress in implementing Amman-Zarqa Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project, which is about 93% complete so far.

According to a ministry statement, Abul Samen stressed need to complete the project’s main works ahead of the end of 2023, in preparation for handing it over to the operator to begin trial operations by linking services with BRT infrastructure inside Amman.

During a field tour, he directed the ministry’s concerned administrations to follow up on the work daily to submit “detailed” progress reports and address obstacles facing operations “immediately,” which would contribute to completing construction within the time frame.

The minister noted the project’s importance and its “positive” impact in improving Jordan’s public transportation system, which would reflect “positively” on the services provided to citizens.

Additionally, he said the project establishes a “new” experience and concept in transportation connecting the Kingd
om’s cities, as the government hopes to launch similar enterprises in the coming years.

The project’s cost amounts to about JD140 million, funded by the Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) and is divided into 4 phases with a total length of 20 km, the statement said.

Senate president denounces int’l silence over war of genocide against Palestinians

President of the Senate Faisal Fayez condemned the international silence over the war of genocide against the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories, according to a statement on Thursday.

Delivering a speech at the 14th Bosphorus Summit in Istanbul, entitled “The Road to the Next Century: Challenges and Promises,” Fayez said that the region today faces great challenges as the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people continues.

The two-day summit includes specialized topics and working sessions on challenges facing the international community, especially political issues, security, development challenges, knowledge, transformations and global challenges, and brings together a large number of different countries of the world and representatives of many Arab and foreign countries.

The region, Fayez noted, has been deprived of stability and peace for eight decades, due to the failure of the international community to act responsibly towards resolving the Palestinian issue and deal
with the Israeli occupation firmly to force it to implement dozens of United Nations resolutions that Israel ignores.

He stressed that “peace cannot be built in light of an injustice, the main source of which is the Israeli occupation and its oppressive and aggressive practices against the Palestinian people,” noting that His Majesty King Abdullah II has repeatedly warned of the danger that is now unfolding and threatens the region and the entire international community.

He pointed out that the convening of the conference comes as the world is experiencing conflicts, political crises, and civil wars that have led to the killing and displacement of hundreds of thousands, the spread of poverty and unemployment, the decline in economic growth and lack of development, the spread of the forces of terrorism and extremism, the boom in drug trafficking, and the widening of the gap between the countries of the North and South. These challenges include the Coronavirus pandemic, the Russian-Ukrainian war, its effects
on energy and commodity prices, and the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, he added.

Fayez pointed to a number of challenges facing the world, including the spread of arms trade at the expense of development issues in various countries of the world, which has led to more global conflicts, pointing out that the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute revealed that the total arms sales to the largest arms producers in the world reached 592 billion US dollars in 2021

He indicated that “if these amounts were used for development issues and addressing global warming and climate change, today’s world would be different and free of hunger, poverty and conflicts.”

Ajarmeh values JHCO’s efforts in supporting Gaza

Lower House Palestine Committee hailed efforts made by Jordanian Hashemite Charitable Organization (JHCO) in providing and delivering relief and humanitarian aid to people in Gaza Strip.

During the committee’s visit on Thursday to JHCO headquarters, its head, MP Firas Ajarmeh, said Jordan, under His Majesty King Abdullah II’s leadership, supports Palestinian people, who are facing brutal aggression that snubs human values, standards, and covenants contained in international treaties.

Ajarmeh noted Jordan led an international movement to stop aggression against Gaza Strip and facilitate delivery of relief and medical aid to the coastal enclave.

Additionally, he said the House’s presidency is leading “tremendous” efforts through parliamentary diplomacy, by addressing international parliaments to expose the inhumane Israeli practices in Gaza and the entire Palestinian territories.

The committee also condemned the Israeli occupation’s attack on Jordanian field hospital crews in Gaza, valuing their efforts.

During the visit, the committee also praised the JHCO’s role, which reflects humanitarian values in supporting the Palestinian people, who suffer the worst types of aggression.

For his part, JHCO Director General, Hussein Shibli, said the organization sent emergency medical and relief aid to support people in Gaza, stressing that it is working round the clock to prepare and dispatch medical, relief and food assistance to Gaza people.

JHCO, he announced, sent a new medical aid plane carrying about 45 tonnes of medical materials to support health sector in Gaza.

Foreign Affairs committee condemns Israeli targeting of Jordanian field hospital

The Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee denounced the Israeli occupation forces’ targeting of the Jordanian Field Hospital in Gaza.

The committee stressed in a press statement issued on Thursday that the bombing will not stop the field staff from carrying out their role towards Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The committee called for holding war criminals in the Israeli authority accountable, calling on the government to take a clear stance on this attack.

It also underscored the need for the international community to take a clear stance condemning Israeli war crimes and stopping them.

Earlier, the Israeli occupation forces bombed the vicinity of the Jordanian field hospital, wounding seven hospital staffs during their attempt to treat Palestinian citizens who were injured during an Israeli bombing.
