Agents say Eid domestic tour bookings up

Local travel agencies have reported a significant surge in the uptake of bookings for domestic tourism tours during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday.

In interviews with the Jordan News Agency (Petra), they called on hotels and tourist transport companies to offer pocket-friendly rates to entice Jordanian citizens into choosing local tourism as their first choice.

Salameh Khattar, a member of the board of directors for the Jordan Society of Tourism and Travel Agents, noted that the “Urdun Jannah” program has been a boon for domestic tourism, galvanizing locals to explore numerous picturesque destinations, especially since the program’s expenses are backed by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, as well as the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB).

He also called for further bolstering the tourism sector, which is a vital industry that supports and stimulates the national economy.

Amjad Al-Maslamani, the CEO of Dallas Travel and Tourism and an investor in the aviation sector, highlighted the exceptional demand for domestic tourism trips during the Eid Al-Fitr season, noting that transportation and hotel rates are currently “high”.

Ashraf Hammad, owner of the Montana Travel and Tourism Company, highlighted the tourism agencies’ endeavors to furnish a gamut of deals and activities tailored to suit all citizens, noting that demand tends to soar during holidays, particularly in the “Golden Triangle” of Aqaba, Wadi Run, and Petra, as well as the Dead Sea.
