Iraq Approves Agreement with US to Form Joint High Committee to Implement Joint Dialogue Outcomes

Iraq’s Ministerial Council for National Security approved on Tuesday the Iraqi delegation’s agreement with the United States to form a joint high committee with the Global Coalition to start implementing the outcomes of the joint dialogue.

Iraq’s Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed Al Sudani instructed the engagement with the Global Coalition leadership to initiate the committee’s operations.

Spokesperson for the Iraqi Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Yahya Rasool said that the Council received a comprehensive update about the recent visit of Iraq’s delegation, led by Iraqi Minister of Defense Thabet Mohammad Al Abbasi, to Washington upon the invitation of the US Secretary of Defense.

He also mentioned that Iraq’s delegation reviewed security cooperation according to the Strategic Framework Agreement and the shape of the future relationship between Iraq and the Global Coalition.

The Iraqi delegation conveyed Iraq’s perspective in the dialogue, asserting that foreign combat forces are unnecessary on Iraqi soil, Rasool added.
