Israeli forces Thursday overnight detained eight Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to security sources.
They said that Israeli forces rounded up two Palestinians after breaking into the houses of their families in the northern West Bank village of Silat al-Harithiya, northwest of Jenin.
In Qalqiliya district, gun-toting soldiers barged their way into Hableh village, south of the city, and detained another.
They also re-arrested a former prisoner after appearing at his family house in the nearby town of Kafr Thulth.
Meanwhile, the sources confirmed a similar raid in Tubas city, resulting in re-arresting a former prisoner.
While in the city, the soldiers surrounded and broke into a house, tampering with its contents.
In Salfit district, military vehicles stormed Deir Istiya town, where soldiers detained another.
In the southern West Bank, the soldiers conducted a raid in Dheisha refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, and re-arrested a former prisoner.
They also re-arrested another after storming and thoroughly searching his family house in Hindaza area, east of the city.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
