Jordan, Belgium foreign minister talk ties, cooperation

The Jordanian and Belgian foreign ministers discussed over the phone Wednesday bilateral ties and enhancing partnership between the institutions of the two countries. The talks focused on the continuation of cooperation and coordination within the framework of the partnership between Jordan and the EU. The top diplomats reviewed the preparations for the seventh conference to support the future of Syria and the region, which starts Thursday in Brussels. The conference would focus on strengthening international efforts to support the Syrian people and provide humanitarian relief and assistance in building Syria. The Foreign Minister of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, praised Belgium for supporting Jordan in facing economic challenges and bearing the burden of asylum. The Belgian Foreign Minister, Hadja Lahbib, lauded Jordan for its efforts to uphold security, stability and lasting peace in the region and to receive refugees. Lahbib added that Belgium would continue supporting Jordan in grappling with asylum, meeting the needs of refugees.
