Minister of Industry: Handing over lands to investors in industrial zone in Hodeida to support local production

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Muhammad Sharaf Al-Mutahhar, affirmed that handing over plots of land for the establishment of industrial projects comes within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to provide facilities to investors and support the establishment of industrial and productive projects.

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Minister Al-Mutahhar stated that handing over the investment sites to set up industrial projects translates the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to support local production and reduce the import bill.

He pointed out that the area handed over to investors amounts to more than 1,531,000 square metres, indicating that the projects include the establishment of industrial complexes for the production of ghee, oils, dairy products, juices, pasta, biscuits and woven bags, in addition to a coal-fired electric power generation project with a capacity of 100 megawatts, as well as industrial complexes for foodstuffs. Miscellaneous, legumes, sweets and a complex of logistical support for the storage and handling of goods and raw materials.

The Minister of Industry considered the handing over of lands to investors, according to clear mechanisms in handover procedures and a schedule of implementation steps, reflecting the volume of trust and partnership between the ministry and the private sector, and stressing a safe investment environment.

He pointed out that the implementation of these large industrial projects will represent a qualitative addition and a major boost to the local production of foodstuffs and meet the needs of the local market for important basic commodities.

The Minister of Industry called on investors and the commercial and industrial sector to invest in the industrial zone in Hodeidah, and they will find all facilities and services in the region.
