On the occasion of International Workers’ Day, thousands of Palestinian workers tortured, detained after October 7

RAMALLAH: Prisoners’ institutions reported that thousands of Palestinian workers have been subjected to detentions, prosecution, and torture by the Israeli occupation authorities since last October.

They pointed out that the occupation has escalated the process of persecuting and detentions against workers on the grounds of entering without a work permit during the past months and this was accompanied by attacks in various ways and under difficult conditions.

The prisoner institutions said that the abuse and torture carried out by the occupation against workers led to the killing of three workers in the occupation prisons and detention centers.

“The largest number of detentions that affected workers after the 7th of October targeted workers from the Gaza Strip, who were present to work within the 1948 territories, and according to data from the Ministry of Labor, their number before the 7th of October was about 10,300 workers, and they were released. 3,200 of them last November, and about 6,441 workers wer
e deported to the West Bank governorates, and approximately 1,000 workers remain missing.”

They called on all international human rights institutions at their various levels to open an independent international investigation in light of the continued escalation of crimes and genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

They further called for putting an end to the unprecedented crimes committed against detainees inside occupation jails.
