Palestine registers 233 COVID-19 cases, seven deaths

RAMALLAH, Saturday, May 22 2021 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 233 new COVID-19 infections, seven deaths and 300 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the past 24 hours.
In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said five deaths were reported in the West Bank and two others in the Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, only 46 coronavirus tests came out positive, while 187 new cases were registered in the Gaza Strip.
The health minister said 43 patients of coronavirus are currently under intensive care, of whom 10 are on ventilators. In addition, 85 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals and COVID-19 dispensaries.
Alkaila pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 97.5 percent, while active cases declined to 1.4 percent. Deaths stood at 1.1 percent of total infections.
Concerning vaccinations, the health minister said over 282,800 people have received their first jab of the vaccine in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, of whom 197,190 received both doses.
