At least a Palestinian sustained injuries and a number of vehicles were damaged in ongoing settler attacks across the West Bank on Wednesday evening and Thursday overnight, according to local and security sources.
They said that armed Israeli settlers opened fire towards Palestinian vehicles travelling along Road 60, which links Jerusalem with the Palestinian cities of Bethlehem and Hebron in the southern West Bank and serves as a fast direct route for Jewish settlers in the Gush Etzion bloc driving to and from Jerusalem.
The assailants came from the colonial settlement of Migdal Oz, part of the Gush Etzion settlement bloc. No injuries were reported though.
In the Jordan Valley, dozens of settlers gathered east of the intermittently-staffed al-Hamra military checkpoint and hurled stones at Palestinian vehicles travelling nearby, smashing the windshields of at least five, as confirmed by Aref Daraghmeh, a local activist.
The settlers hurled stones at 35-year-old Mohammad Zbeidat, a resident of Jericho, as he was driving his car through the checkpoint, wounding him, terrifying his two child daughters and causing damage to the car.
Meanwhile, Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors colonial settlement activities in the northern West Bank, confirmed similar settler attacks along the Nablus-Ramallah Road, Nablus-Tulkarm Road and Qalqiliya-Nablus Road, causing material damages.
He added that settlers committed some 80 attacks against Palestinian commuters in Nablus district on Wednesday overnight.
Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Settler violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
There are over 700,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
