AWO Holds 2nd Training of Building National Capacities on Election Observation

Arab Women Organization (AWO) launched Tuesday the activities of the second training of its ‘Building National Capacities on Election Observation from a Gender Perspective’ program.

The three-day virtual event is titled ‘Electoral Complaints, Appeals and Judicial Reviews’.

AWO’s General Manager Dr. Fadia Kiwan confirmed in her speech during the opening of the session that the organization has designed an integrated training program on preparing qualified Arab cadres to monitor the elections, especially with regard to taking into account the diversity, different roles and opportunities of both genders and its impact on the electoral process.

She pointed out that the organization has implemented a series of programs aimed at spreading and deepening a culture of gender equality in various fields, especially the political field. She noted that the organization includes among its strategic objectives the enhancement of women’s skills and capabilities to provide them with opportunities for success. (QNA)

ARADO to Convene 5th Arab Conference of Management and Development in September

The Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO) of the Arab League is slated to convene the 5th Arab Conference of Management and Development during the period 19-21, 2023, under the theme of administrative leadership and corporate excellence in light of Arab civil service laws.

In a statement on Tuesday, ARADO affirmed that the conference aims to highlight the importance of administrative leaderships role in promoting institutions performance level to achieve expectations and aspirations of ARADO’s beneficiaries, including the required knowledge and leadership skills in light of the fourth industrial revolution and its applications.

The conference will likewise discuss numerous global and Arab practices and explore early solutions for the most consequential challenges facing public administration in the 21st century.

The conference will tackle multiple themes in this regard, including role of civil service laws in preparing administrative leaderships, role of information technology in creating an environment that supports corporate excellence and role of administrative leadership in achieving corporate excellence

Qatar Media Center Organizes Training Workshop in Photoshop Art

Qatar Media Center of the Ministry of Culture has kicked off the activities of the photoshop training workshop which are organized by the center.

Presented by the trainer Abdullah Sorour, the three-day training workshop features an array of themes, including knowledge of photoshop processing tools, lists, layers box and definition tools, in addition to a practical application on adjusting and correcting image colors before and after being converted into a photoshop configuration.

The workshop also includes adjustment of images tilting, cleaning through tools, as well as converting them into printing and practical application on models of images. The workshop is increasingly demanded by a variety of age groups with multiple specializations which primarily underscore the significance of this kind of practical training workshop.

Director of the Qatar Media Center Iman Al Kaabi affirmed that the center has been keen to occasionally present such kind of training workshops to the public, because of the substantial number of people who enroll in them and their significance in accomplishing multiple tasks and functions.

She pointed out that what distinguishes such kind of workshops is the fact that it is demanded by a variety of specializations and is not solely confined to media professions, as there is an increasing demand for learning and perfecting such type of art from the part of a variety of community segments to upgrade skills and develop business considering the digital media revolution.

The center’s approach in selecting the type of workshops it presents essentially focuses on training and qualification which upgrade individuals’ skills and develop them, Al Kaabi outlined, pointing out that the high demand for registering in such training workshops underscores the advisability of this approach.

The center has been active since the beginning of 2023 to organize a series of workshops and training courses in a variety of media specializations, as the center has engaged in covering many events in Qatar as part of a media activity which aims to highlight these events and create its relevant content on various digital platforms.

Qatar Arab Youth Hackathon’s main event to start Sept 10 to 14

The main event of the Qatar Arab Youth Anti-Corruption Hackathon 2023 will be held from 10 to 14 September.

In a press conference on Wednesday, head of public relations department at Qatar’s Administrative Control and Transparency Authority Eid Al-Hajri said that the event is part of the corruption fighting efforts of Qatar, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Microsoft company.

The hackathon was launched in 2021 to enable youth to use technology to find effective means of fighting corruption, he noted, adding that this year’s edition is titled “programing for integrity”.

On her part, media spokeperson of the transparency authority Fayza Al-Kaabi told KUNA that there are participants from 17 Arab countries in the event, including Kuwait.

The hackathon is for programmers between the age of 18 to 30, who will come up with programs aiming to fight corruption in different fields including sports, education and sales operations, she added.

The hackathon started in December 2022 and is set to conclude next December, with the major event being from September 10 to 14, where the winner of the competition will have his/her picture lit on Lusail Towers, said Al-Kaabi.

She noted that the winner of the first place will receive a reward of 150,000 QAR (about USD 41,000), 100,000 QAR (about USD 27,000) for the second place and 50,000 QAR (about USD 13,000) for the third place

Yemeni officer murdered while investigating WFP staffer’s death

Unknown gunmen shot dead police captain Adnan Al-Muhaya, one of the investigators probing the last month murder of a UN World Food Programme staff member.

Al-Muhaya was killed in Jahmalia district, Taiz city, southwest Yemen, on Tuesday afternoon, local security sources affirmed.

The security committee of the governorate opened a probe into the new crime while a manhunt for the perpetrators got underway.

Egyptian FM cautions against Sudan conflict spilling over into neighboring countries

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said Tuesday the continuation of the crisis in Sudan is a source of profound concern for Egypt and other neighbors of Sudan.

The adverse impacts of the conflict have to do with not only the issue of refugees but the historical bonds among the peoples of the region as well, he said in press briefing following the meeting of the Arab ministerial committee on Syria. He stressed the need of restoring the security and stability in Sudan and maintain its territorial unity in order to enable its legitimate institutions play their roles in serving the Sudanese people.

The minister called for working out a roadmap for Sudan’s neighbors to communicate directly with the various parties to the conflict for helping contain the crisis, deescalate the hostilities, and address the humanitarian disaster. He highlighted the importance of addressing the political dispute through cooperation among local and regional stakeholders, and mutually-acceptable compromises.

PM Visits Baiji Thermal Power Station For Producing Electricity, And Briefed On The Progress Of Rehabilitation Work In It

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, visited today, Wednesday, Baiji thermal station for the production of electricity in Salah al-Din Governorate.

A statement by the Prime Minister’s Office stated, “Al-Sudani was briefed on the progress of work in rehabilitating the thermal station, and also discussed the requirements and plans for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the first and second gas stations in Baiji, and the measures taken in this regard, in order to return the three stations to service and supply the national grid with more than 2000 megawatts of production capacity.

The statement added, “The rehabilitation work on the second Baiji gas station is taking place according to the road map, with the German company Siemens, which has a capacity of 1000 megawatts, while all stations will operate on Iraqi fuel from the Baiji refinery.”

Al-Sudani visits Baiji thermal power station to produce electric power

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, visited the Baiji thermal power station for the production of electric power, and discussed plans for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of its units that were destroyed during the war against the terrorist ISIS gangs, and the plan to rehabilitate the two Baiji gas stations.

The Prime Minister also was briefed on the progress of the implementation of works in the sewage project of Baiji district, which is scheduled to be opened at the end of this year.

Najaf Police: carrying out a raid and arresting a drug dealer who threw a grenade at the raiding force

The Najaf Governorate Police Command announced the implementation of a qualitative operation and the arrest of a drug dealer.

The Command said, “The Najaf Police Chief led a qualitative operation and supervised the SWAT company and the fight against narcotics and psychotropic substances during a raid on the headquarters of a drug dealer in an agricultural area outside the city of Kufa.”

And it indicated, “The drug dealer threw a grenade at the raiding force, and immediately the place was cordoned off, stormed, arrested, and a quantity of drugs was seized in his house. Rifles, pistols, hand grenades, equipment, a motorcycle, a vehicle, and an amount of money were seized, and he was referred to the judiciary.”

Three drug dealers belonging to the terrorist ISIS gangs arrested in Diyala

The Anti-Terrorism Agency arrested (3) drug dealers belonging to ISIS terrorist gangs in Diyala.

A statement by the Security Media Cell stated: Following accurate intelligence information and in coordination with the Iraqi National Intelligence Service and the Falcons Cell, the forces of the Agency clashed with a group of drug dealers belonging to the terrorist ISIS gangs in Khanaqin, Qara Taba district, and managed to arrest (3) wanted persons.
