MGA Entertainment Initiates Merger with Zapf Creation AG

LOS ANGELES and RÖDENTAL, Germany, Oct. 09, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — MGA Entertainment, Inc. (MGA), one of the world’s largest and fastest growing privately held toy and entertainment companies, announced today that it intends to merge with Zapf Creation AG, Europe’s leading manufacturer of nurturing dolls. Specifically, MGA’s wholly-owned German subsidiary, which is the current direct major shareholder of Zapf Creation AG, has approached Zapf with an invitation to enter into negotiations of a merger agreement. MGA and Zapf Creation AG have had a collaborative business relationship for the sales and distribution of both companies’ brands for nearly 20 years. The merger is expected to close in Spring 2024.

No further details are available at this time; however, the leadership of the companies will work closely to plan the merger and will make appropriate announcements as information becomes available.

Muhammad Abdel Salam: The UAE should have remained silent and not stabbed Palestinian resistance in back

Ansar Allah spokesman Muhammad Abdel Salam denounced the UAE’s position on the Israeli massacres and aggression against the Palestinian people.

Muhammad Abdel Salam said in a tweet on Twitter: “The UAE should have remained silent, not revealed its ugly face, stabbed the Palestinian resistance in the back, and been publicly involved alongside the Israeli enemy in committing massacres against the Palestinian people.”

He stressed that the Palestinian people and the peoples of the nation will not tolerate any party that provides cover for Israeli aggression.

Russian Presidency warns of escalating conflict in Middle East

The Russian Presidency warned, Monday, from the expansion of the conflict in the middle east and expressed serious concern about the escalating Palestine-Israel conflict.

Russian News Agency (TASS) quoted the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying that the escalating conflict imposes a huge threat on the entire region, and urged for transferring the conflict to a political framework.

In a previous statement, Russian Foreign Ministry attributed the escalation of the conflict again to the failure of implementing the resolutions of UN organization and UN Security Council.

Qatar Participates in 9th Meeting of GCC Heads of Supreme and Cassation Courts in Riyadh

The State of Qatar, represented by the Supreme Judiciary Council, took part in the 9th regular meeting of the heads of the Supreme and Cassation Courts in the Gulf Cooperation Council member countries. The meeting took place today in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The State of Qatar was represented by HE President of the Supreme Judiciary Council and President of Court of Cassation Dr. Hassan bin Lahdan Al Hassan Al Mohannadi.

The meeting is a continuation of joint cooperation between the Supreme and Cassation Courts in the GCC member states to follow up on the effectiveness of the program of “practical” bilateral visits to the Supreme and Cassation Courts in the GCC countries (2022-2024).

It discussed ways to enhance technical cooperation between the supreme courts and discussed the program of visits by judicial teams from the Supreme and Cassation Courts, in addition to the mechanism for exchanging judicial principles electronically.

EU extends sanctions against use of chemical weapons

The European Union, Monday, extended the sanctions regime against the proliferation and use of chemical weapons for three years until October 16, 2026 and prolonged existing sanction against persons and entities for another year, until October 16, 2024.

According to an EU statement, currently, sanctions in place apply to 25 persons and 3 entities. Those targeted are subject to an asset freeze and EU persons and entities are forbidden from making funds, financial assets or economic resources available to them.

Additionally, individuals are subject to a travel ban, which prevents them from entering or transiting through EU territories.

The sanctions regime aims to contribute to the EU?’s efforts to counter the proliferation and use of chemical weapons, as well as to support the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction (CWC), it noted.

Mild autumn weather forecast, with spotty showers

Jordan is set for moderate autumn weather on Monday, with temperatures ranging from mild to relatively hot in different regions. Clouds are expected to appear at medium and high altitudes, bringing scattered showers to various parts of the country as the day progresses. The weather conditions will be accompanied by moderate northwesterly to northeasterly winds, occasionally picking up in strength. According to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), a slight drop in mercury levels is anticipated for Tuesday, with partly cloudy and generally mild conditions. Morning hours may witness intermittent rain showers, accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail. As the evening approaches, the weather is expected to gradually stabilize, while winds will be moderate northwesterly throughout the day. Wednesday and Thursday will maintain a moderate autumnal temperature in most areas, while the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba will experience relatively hot weather. Clouds will be scattered at various altitudes, and the winds will be moderate northwesterly. Today’s peak temperatures will be between 25 and 29 degrees Celsius in Amman and various highlands throughout the Kingdom, with lows of 16 or even 14C in the southern highlands at night. The Gulf city of Aqaba will have sweltering weather, with highs of 35C and lows of 23C.

Israeli airstrikes in Gaza result in multiple Palestinian deaths

A significant number of Palestinians have lost their lives, and hundreds more have been injured as a result of the recent escalation in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. These devastating attacks, which occurred during the early hours of Monday, targeted numerous residential homes, mosques, and institutions, further exacerbating the already tense situation in the region. According to Palestinian sources, among the victims are the Abu Al-Amrin family, whose home was struck by Israeli airstrikes. Additionally, two children lost their lives in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in eastern Gaza. The Ahmed Yassin Mosque in Al-Shati refugee camp, located in the western part of Gaza, was also hit, resulting in the killing of three Palestinians and the complete destruction of the mosque. Emergency response teams, alongside civil defense units, have been tirelessly working to recover the remains of approximately 20 individuals, particularly in the vicinity of the Abu Halaal family’s residence in Rafah, southern Gaza, which bore the brunt of the early morning airstrikes. Israeli aircraft did not spare other significant targets, including the Al-Yarmouk Mosque and a number of residences of Palestinian families.

Palestinian shot dead by Israeli forces in Hebron

A Palestinian individual was killed early Monday due to gunfire from Israeli occupation forces in the Wadi al-Nasara area, located to the east of Hebron in the southern region of the West Bank. According to a statement by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, the confrontation occurred when Israeli forces opened fire on a young man identified as Rajeh Hossam Taha. The Israeli forces claimed that Taha was attempting to breach the Wadi al-Nasara neighborhood using a bulldozer. This neighborhood is situated adjacent to the Kiryat Arba settlement, which stands on Palestinian land to the east of Hebron and has been inaccessible to Palestinians since the year 2000. The Israeli forces have taken custody of the martyr’s body.

Israeli soldiers killed in clashes with Qassam Brigades in Sha’ar Hanegev

Israeli media outlets have confirmed the fatalities of several Israeli soldiers during a firefight with members of the Al-Qassam Brigades in Sha’ar Hanegev area in the Gaza Strip. The sources reported that there was an exchange of gunfire between Al-Qassam Brigades and the Israeli army near the Sha’ar Hanegev junction.
