Kuwaiti Karate team wins kata’s bronze medal in 19th Asian Games

The Kuwaiti team won the Karate kata competition’s bronze medal in the 19th Asian Games, increasing Kuwait’s tally to 11 medals; three gold, four silver and four bronze.

In remarks to KUNA, Kuwaiti Karate team’s Director, Jaber Hammad, affirmed that Salman Al-Musawai, Mohammad Al-Musawai and Mohammad Hussein won the bronze medal.

He noted the team and the technical and administrative staff’s efforts helped in achieving this victory.

EGYPTIAN-JORDANIAN STATEMENT REGARDING THE SITUATION IN PALESTINE

The Egyptian presidency announced that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, touching on the situation in Palestine. Advisor Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that ‘the call included deliberations on the ongoing escalation between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, where the recent developments were reviewed and the priority of concerted regional and international efforts to work to stop the escalation and violence, and exercise self-restraint in order to prevent bloodshed and further deterioration of the situation.’ It was also agreed to ‘continue and intensify consultations and coordination between Egypt and Jordan with the aim of strengthening efforts to achieve calm, in order to advance the path of a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian issue, on the basis of the two-state solution, in accordance with the relevant references of international legitimacy, and in a way that ensures the establishment of peace and stability in the region,’ according to ‘ Russia Today ” news agency.

Israel imposes punitive measures against Palestinian prisoners

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) reported that the Israeli Prison Services (IPS) had, since yesterday, imposed punitive measures against Palestinian detainees, which included closing sections in all prisons, withdrawing the limited number of television sets available to detainees, increasing jamming devices, stopping family visits, and informing lawyers about the cancellation of the visits that were scheduled for this week. The PPS added, in a statement today, that the occupation also decided, following a military order, to increase the period of extending the detention of detainees from 96 hours to 8 days, and to prevent all detainees from meeting with a lawyer during the first four days of detention. Yesterday, the repressive forces stormed the detention section of the Damon prison, using poisonous gas, cutting off their electricity, and isolating a female prisoner and transferring her – according to available information – to the Jalama prison. In light of this, the female detainees decided to take protest steps, such as returning meals. The number of detainees in the occupation prisons is more than 5,250, including 39 female detainees, 170 children, and more than 1,300 administrative detainees.

MoH: Death toll in Gaza rises to 313, injuries to 1,990

Death toll of Palestinian martyrs since beginning of Israeli aggression amounted to 313 and 1,990 others were injured, reported spokesperson on behalf of health authorities in Gaza, Ashraf Al-Qudra.

Hamas movement had launched “Al-Aqsa flood” military operation against Israeli settlements in response to crimes committed against Palestinian people and their religious sanctities.

China’s Central Bank Adds Liquidity Via Reverse Repos

China’s central bank conducted 20 billion yuan (about 2.79 billion US dollars) of seven-day reverse repos at an interest rate of 1.8 percent Sunday.

The move aims to keep liquidity in the banking system reasonable and ample, the People’s Bank of China said in a statement.

A reverse repo is a process in which the central bank purchases securities from commercial banks through bidding, with an agreement to sell them back in the future.

Minister of Sports and Youth: Qatar F1 Grand Prix Provides Ideal Experience for Fans

HE Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali stressed that the State of Qatar presented a distinguished and exceptional round in the Formula 1 World Championship competitions, considering that the experience of the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2023 race came out ideal and exceeded expectations.

In press remarks, HE Al Ali said that the fans’ experience in the Qatar F1 Grand Prix is one of the most wonderful, with the presence of outstanding areas along the circuit that accommodate 40,000 spectators, enabling them to follow the details of the race on the track and inside the paddock, according to maintenance works.

His Excellency added that the fan areas were designed distinctively, enabling them to roam between most of the areas of the circuit, making it easier for them to move to and from the stands from the areas of events and activities held along the main grandstand of the circuit.

HE the Minister expressed his overwhelming happiness with the great success achieved by the Qatar Grand Prix, which witnessed great momentum at the media and public levels, pointing out that the circuit appeared in its new shape after being rebuilt from scratch in ten months, which is a record to be added to Lusail International Circuit’s achievements since its establishment in 2014.

His Excellency noted that the Lusail Circuit is not just buildings but rather multiple systems and special specifications for security and safety and many other things, which resulted in the champions participating in the Formula 1 World Championship being impressed by what they found not only this year but also in 2021 when the Lusail Circuit hosted the extraordinary round of Formula 1 for the first time after Japan’s withdrawal only seven weeks before the start of the event, but the Lusail Circuit was present on time and successfully organized the event within a short period.

HE Minister of Sports and Youth considered that the Lusail Circuit is the safest in the world, especially since it was designed for motorcycles, which has the highest security and safety specifications, which resulted in drivers being satisfied with all the technical and logistical matters of the circuit, which has been characterized by the smoothness of its track since its establishment and this is a feature that has been maintained after rebuilding the circuit.

Regarding the momentum that the State of Qatar always creates in world championships for mechanical sports, HE the Minister explained that mechanical sports have a great place in the State of Qatar as it has world champions with a long history, including Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, Saeed Al Hajri, Hamad bin Eid, and others. In light of the recent escalation of political events in the country, 7amleh – The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media had monitored and documented hundreds of cases of digital rights violations through “7or” platform since yesterday, including cases of hate speech and incitement to violence in Hebrew, deletion of Palestinian content, as well as the restriction of accounts advocating for Palestinian rights. 7amleh Center said it maintains continuous communication with social media companies and has successfully acted on a significant number of these violations so far. 7amleh Center emphasized the importance of reporting cases of hate speech and incitement, particularly those written in Hebrew. ‘This reporting significantly aids in documenting and monitoring the violations that affect Palestinian individuals and institutions,’ said the center in a statement. Nadeem Nashif, the director of 7amleh Center, also emphasized that: “There is a massive amount of incitement in Hebrew on social media networks, and there is utmost importance in combating hate speech and incitement because, as we have seen in previous cases, it translates into real-world attacks. Colonial settlers open fire on Palestinian homes near Jenin

Colonial Israeli settlers fired live ammunition today towards Palestinian homes in the village of Jalbun, to the northeast of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, for the second time within hours, local sources said. No injuries were reported. Ibrahim Abu al-Rab, the head of the Jalbun village council, told WAFA that settlers from the colonial Israeli settlement of Mirav, built on the village’s lands, fired live shots intensively last night and again this morning at Palestinian homes in order to terrorize the village’s civilian population. This incident is the latest in a series of attacks carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinian communities in the West Bank. These attacks often go unpunished by Israeli occupation authorities, leading to further tension and insecurity for Palestinians living in these areas.

Arab League calls for adding Israel to list of shame for parties violating children’s rights in armed conflicts

The General Secretariat of the Arab League called today for adding Israel, along with its army and colonialists, to the list of shame of parties that violate children’s rights in armed conflicts, in implementation of Security Council Resolution No. (1612). This came in a speech delivered by the Assistant Secretary-General for Social Affairs of the Arab League, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, before the Human Rights Council at its 54th regular session in Geneva, held from September 11 to October 13, under item seven of the agenda concerned with the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territory. In her speech, Abu Ghazaleh called for the necessity of keeping item seven as a permanent item on the council’s agenda and to put pressure on Israel to stop settlement policies and arming settlers, and to stop all Israeli violations of Islamic and Christian sanctities. She stressed the importance of ensuring international protection for the Palestinian people and their capabilities, by sending international observers and UN committees and enabling them to enter the occupied Palestinian territory, in addition to putting pressure on Israel to stop all racist and discriminatory measures practiced against the Palestinians, including seizing lands, demolishing homes and property, and stealing wealth and natural resources. Abu Ghazaleh called for immediate action to release Palestinian and Arab administrative detainees held in Israeli occupation prisons as they are subject to arbitrary and illegal detention.

Death toll in Gaza rises to 370 following ongoing Israeli airstrikes

Hospitals in the Gaza Strip Sunday announced that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip for the second day had risen to 370, while 2,200 others were left with various injuries. WAFA correspondent in Gaza said that 138 Palestinians were killed since dawn today, including infants, women and elderly, as a result of the Israeli warplanes’ bombing of a number of homes in different areas of the Gaza Strip. This afternoon, the Israeli warplanes committed two heinous massacres in the city of Khan Yunis in the south of the Gaza Strip, and in the town of Beit Hanoun in the north, claiming the lives of infants, women and the elderly.

About 750 Israeli soldiers and settlers are missing, occupation forces report

Israeli occupation forces said that unofficial estimates suggest that approximately 750 settlers and soldiers are unaccounted for. Israeli officials stated that it remains unclear how many Israeli soldiers and settlers were captured in Gaza, as reported by Israeli Channel 12 on Sunday. The Gaza Strip settlements of Kfar Aza and Be’eri continue to experience clashes 24 hours after the clashes began, while, Sderot, Zakim, Ra’im, and Sufa remain out of control, it added.
