FM warns against international inaction in implementing consensus on Palestine

The Foreign Ministry today warned against continued international inaction in implementing long-standing international consensus on Palestine.

“On the fifth anniversary of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution 2334, the State of Palestine warns against the continued inaction and complacency of the international community in implementing the long-standing and impregnable international consensus on the Question of Palestine. Allowing Israel to expand its colonial settlement regime at this unprecedented rate without consequence or accountability is a political failure of the first order that must be corrected.”

“Israel has made it clear that it will not abandon the spoils of its illegal colonial occupation, land grab, and mass displacement, or its institutionalized persecution and apartheid. It maintains this intransigent position and acts with impunity because it continues to be rewarded for its crimes.”

“It is past time for the international community to act, collectively and concretely, to implement UNSC 2334 and its recommendation and bring this unlawful situation to an end. The global community has an obligation to implement effective measures that ensure non-recognition of colonial settlements and deprives Israel of the financial plunders this enterprise has thus far yielded. Continued Israeli failure to comply with international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, including 2334, must be met with decisive international action, including sanctions.”

“Finally, the State of Palestine calls on the United Nations to assume its decisive role and convene an international conference under the auspices of the Quartet to ensure the realization of the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights, including to self-determination and the independence of the State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
