RAMALLAH– Israeli forces Tuesday evening shot and detained a Palestinian close to Silwad town, northeast of Ramallah city, according to local sources.
They said that the gun-toting soldiers stationed near the colonial settlement of Ofra, established on lands confiscated from Silwad and the nearby town of Ein Yabrud, opened fire at a vehicle, wounding the driver.
The soldiers prevented medics from approaching the scene to treat the casualty, who was ultimately detained.
This came as a sizable army force deployed at the roads leading to the cluster of villages, northeast of Ramallah, including Beitin, Taybeh, Ein Yabrud and Uyoun al-Haramiya area, north of the city, stopping vehicles with Palestinian registration plates and inspecting passengers’ ID cards.
