Palestine confirms 557 new coronavirus cases, ten fatalities

Palestine today recorded 557 new Covid-19 cases and ten deaths, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.

She announced that 557 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and ten others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 557 cases, 109 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 448 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as five deaths from the West Bank and others from the besieged Gaza Strip.

She added that 522 Covid-19 patients recovered; 132 recovery cases in the West Bank and 390 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 46 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 10 who are connected to ventilators, while 91 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.

Recoveries account for 97.7 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March 2020, active cases for 1.2 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 290,505 people have received the vaccine so far in the West Bank and Gaza, including 203,161 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.
