Palestine records 2,928 new Covid-19 cases, 18 deaths

Palestine today recorded 2,928 new Covid-19 cases and 18 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Alkaila.

She announced that 2,928 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 18 others died of it in the occupied territories.

As part of the 2,928 new cases, 1,679 cases were registered in the West Bank and 1,249 others in the Gaza Strip. Among the West bank cases, 950 were recorded in Jerusalem.

She identified the death cases as 11 residents of the West Bank and seven others of the Gaza Strip.

She added that 5,401 Covid-19 patients recovered; 2,201 recovery cases in the West Bank and 3,200 others in the Gaza Strip. Among the recovery cases in the West Bank, 1,000 cases were recorded in Jerusalem.

She pointed that 112 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units and 267 others are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, including 44 who are on ventilators.

She said that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 91.5 percent and the active cases account for 7.6 percent. The death toll accounted for 0.9 percent of total infections.
