President Abbas receives US National Security Adviser

President Mahmoud Abbas received tonight the US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and his accompanying delegation.

During a meeting at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, President Abbas briefed the US official on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, the need to end the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine, stop settlement activities, attacks and terror of settlers.

He also highlighted the importance of respecting the historical situation in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, stop the expulsion of Palestinian residents from the neighborhoods of Jerusalem, and stop the deductions in Palestinian taxes as well as stifling the Palestinian economy.

President Abbas also stressed the need to stop the unilateral Israeli practices that undermine the two-state solution, and to move to implement the agreements signed between the two sides, in order to start a real political process in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

He as well stressed the importance of continuing to work on strengthening bilateral relations with the United States and overcoming the obstacles that stand in the way of these relations.

For his part, the US National Security Adviser conveyed President John Biden’s greetings to President Abbas, and his affirmation of the United States’ commitment to the two-state solution, and the importance of joint action by all parties to move forward to achieve peace and stability in the region.
