Teacher Support Fund announces start of process of disbursing transportation allowance for workers

The Teacher and Education Support Fund announced the start of disbursing the transportation allowance for school workers, starting tomorrow, Tuesday.

The Executive Director of the Fund, Hussein Amer Jabal, confirmed, in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the completion of all procedures related to the payment of transportation allowances for school workers for the month of Muharram 1445 AH.

He added, “The Ministry of Education, represented by its Minister, Yahya Badr al-Din al-Houthi, pays great attention to the educational cadres, and is doing its best to ease the difficult burdens that Yemen lives as a result of the aggression and siege.”

Jabal explained that the disbursement process, which will last for 15 days, targets 154,699 male and female teachers, distributed among schools in the governorates of Sana’a, Amran, Hajjah, Hodeidah, Dhamar, Saada, Al-Mahweet, Al-Bayda, Ibb, Al-Mahweet, and Raymah, in addition to the liberated districts of Marib governorate.

The participants affirmed the refusal of the sons of the Islamic nation to violate religious symbols and sanctities.

A statement issued by the stand indicated that the crime of burning copies of the Holy Qur’an is behind the Zionist lobby, calling on the Islamic nation to form a global public opinion for these violations against Islam and its sanctities.

Iraqi President, PM talk ties, cooperation

President of Iraq Abdul Latif Rashid received on Tuesday Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh to discuss ties and joint cooperation.

During the meeting, Khasawneh conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah II’s greetings and hopes for the Iraqi President’s continued good health, as well as His Majesty’s aspirations for greater growth and prosperity for the Iraqi people.

He highlighted several Jordanian-Iraqi projects, including the economic zone, the industrial city, the development of the oil pipeline from Basra to Aqaba, and the transition of these projects from the planning to the implementation stage, whether at the bilateral level or within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt.

Khasawneh also underscored the importance of the private sector and the formation of the Jordanian-Iraqi Business Council in boosting trade and investment, expressing optimism in attaining favorable outcomes that both countries’ populations will undoubtedly experience.

The Prime Minister praised Iraq’s security and stability as a result of defeating terrorism and terrorist groups through the efforts of the Iraqi people and institutions, pointing to the two sides’ agreement to strengthen their security cooperation within a regional framework that also extends to anti-narcotics efforts, which pose a real threat to the peoples of the two countries and the region.

Rashid, for his part, emphasized the deep ties that link Iraq and Jordan, underlining that Iraq’s stability and security lend the way for progress in the development process and offers up opportunities for investment in many critical industries.

He also emphasized the significance of capitalizing on the two nations’ successes in economic, trade, and investment spheres.

PM, Iraqi Parliament Speaker agree on expanding relations

Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh met Tuesday with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi as part of a series of encounters he will hold with Iraqi leaders during his current visit to Baghdad.

The Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah to the Speaker and members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, stressing the deep-rooted, strategic and brotherly relations between Jordan and Iraq, and the Kingdom’s keenness on further cementing cooperation in all fields “in a manner that serves the common interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples”.

The Prime Minister said Jordan is also interested in promoting three-way cooperation with Iraq and Egypt, which would lead to broaden inter-Arab relations.

During the meeting, which was attended by Interior Minister Mazen Faraya, Khasawneh emphasized the security and stability of Iraq and the reconstruction process in the country, noting its key regional and international role.

The head of the Iraqi Parliament valued Jordan’s support of his country in its efforts to achieve security and stability and proceed with reconstruction and development, stressing the strategic relations with the Kingdom.

The two men agreed on the importance of keeping channels open and holding more meetings between officials from the two countries to enhance relations in various areas and forge ahead with vital projects.

Man who shot ex-fiancee in Irbid arrested

A man who shot and wounded his ex-fiancee in the city of Irbid on Tuesday is in police custody, the Public Security Directorate’s media spokesman said.

The woman was rushed to a hospital, where she was listed in a stable condition, he said.

The spokesman added that the shooter, who was identified as the woman’s ex-fiance, was arrested and the firearm was confiscated.

Weather: Very hot with temperature continues above the seasonal average by 5°C

Very hot conditions are expected to continue today in Palestine with the temperature remaining at 5°C above the seasonal average, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Winds are westerly to northwesterly, light to moderate, and sea waves are low.

The temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 36°C and a low of 25°C, and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 35°C and a low of 24°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 46°C and a low of 29°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 36°C and a low of 27°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

No change in temperature or weather conditions is expected for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with unseasonably hot conditions in all of the country.

The PMD warned people against direct exposure to the sun for long periods during peak hours of the day, and against setting fire to dry grassy areas.

UPDATED: Three Palestinians killed by Israeli gunfire in Nablus

Three Palestinians have Tuesday been killed after Israeli forces opened fire at their vehicle in al-Tur area in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to a statement by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

WAFA correspondent said that, according to security sources, Israeli forces prevented medical staff from approaching the scene before proceeding to seize the bodies of the three slain Palestinians, who later identified as Noureddine Tayseer Al-Ardah, 32, Montaser Bahjat Ali Salameh, 33, and Saad Maher Al-Kharraz, 43.

Additionally, the soldiers also seized the targeted vehicle.

Israeli forces demolish agricultural structures, uproot trees near Hebron

Israeli forces Tuesday demolished a number of agricultural structures in the town of al-Zayyem, to the east of the occupied city of Jerusalem.

According to local sources, Israeli forces also demolished shacks, yarns and uprooted several olive trees owned by the family of al-Sa’eedi as well other families from al-Issawiya.

Earthquake Hits South Sandwich Islands

An earthquake measuring 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Tuesday South Sandwich Islands, which is one of the British Overseas Territories in the South Atlantic Ocean.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported that the tremor occurred at a depth of 73 km.

There have been no reports of material damage or causalities as a result of the earthquake.

The South Sandwich Islands are an archipelago that forms part of the “South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands,” which is an overseas territory of the UK.

3 Palestinians Martyred in Nablus

Three Palestinians were martyred Tuesday after the Israeli occupation forces targeted their vehicle with live bullets at the gate of Mount Gerizim in Nablus.

The Israeli occupation forces prevented medical staff from approaching the scene and moved their bodies, Palestinian news agency (WAFA) quoted security sources as saying.

An eyewitness said that occupation forces fired live bullets for more than 10 minutes at the three young men. Another eyewitness reported that the Israeli forces deliberately targeted surveillance cameras in the area in an attempt to hide evidence from the scene.

Towns and cities across the occupied West Bank see almost daily confrontations between the Palestinians and the occupation forces who have been carrying out intensive incursions and raids since March, using live bullets and tear gas, which result in the death and injury of dozens of civilians.

6-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Indonesia

An earthquake measuring 6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck East Nusa Tenggara in Indonesia on Tuesday.

The Indonesia Geophysics Agency stated that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 75 kilometers in the eastern Indonesian region, close to Timor Leste. Due to the distant location of the epicenter, the quake was felt weakly on land in some areas on East Nusa Tenggara.

There is no potential threat for tsunami, and there were no immediate reports of damage, according to the agency.

Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
