QTerminals Qatar Classic 2023 Squash Tournament/ Egyptian Ali Farag Qualifies for Quarter-finals


The Egyptian professional squash player Ali Farag qualified on Tuesday for the quarter-finals of the QTerminals Qatar Classic 2023 Squash Tournament held at the squash courts of the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex until Saturday.



Faraj who is looking forward to win his third title in Qatar after 2018 and 2020, defeated his compatriot Fares Dessouky, seeded 14 in the world, 3-0, (11-7, 11-7, 12-10).



The Egyptian player will face on Thursday his compatriot Tarek Momen who qualified after overcoming Qatari Abdullah Al Tamimi, 3-1 (11-8, 12-10, 7). – 11, 11- 8).



On the other hand, the organizing committee revealed its new design for the two tournament cups, which are held in the platinum category.



The committee said in a statement on Tuesday that the two new cups, which celebrate the return of womens competitions to the Doha Tournament once again, reflect the rich Qatari heritage as the organizing committee inspired their design from the Barzan Towers which are also known as the Umm Salal Mohammed Castle Towers.



In turn, the Director of the QTerminals Qatar Classic 2023 Squash Tournament Tariq Zainal, affirmed that the tournament has become one of the strongest and most important tournaments on the global scene, pointing to the strength of the competitions it has witnessed so far, whether at the mens or womens level.

Khalil Al Mohannadi Crowns China’s Ma Long Champion of Asian Table Tennis Championship


Khalil Al Mohannadi, President of the Qatari, Arab and Asian federations, First Vice-President of the International Table Tennis Federation, crowned third-seeded Ma Long of China champion of the 26th Asian Table Tennis Championship that was hosted by the Korean city of Pyeongchang.



Ma Long raised his tally to 4 gold medals in men’s singles Asian championships after a 3-2 win over Fan Zhendong in the final match.



Khalil Al Mohannadi praised the technical level of the final match, stressing that the match was exciting, while describing the eight-day Asian Table Tennis Championship in Pyeongchang as excellent.

Qatar Wins Gold Medal in 2023 Beirut Open Taekwondo Tournament


Qatar taekwondo team player Noor Nizar won the gold medal in the youth category today during her participation in the 2023 Beirut Open Taekwondo Tournament, ranked G1, for the junior category. The event is being held in Beirut and will conclude on Wednesday.



19 countries are competing in the tournament through 117 male and female athletes in the cadet category, 136 in the junior category, and 176 senior category.



Noor Nizar won the gold medal in the final match of the young women’s category over 68 kg after beating Jordanian player Raha Al Adwan.



Yesterday, Qatar’s player Saad Nasser Al Sulaiti won the silver medal in for the cadet category under 168 cm.

Second Round of Al Furjan Football Tournament Begins Wednesday


Organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA), the second round of the Al Furjan Football Tournament will kick off Wednesday at Umm Lekhba and Duhail South.



The first match will see Al Wakrah facing Al Sadd, while the second match will see Al Dafna facing Al Mayeda, the third match will see Al Hazm facing Umm Salal while the fourth and final match will be between Haloul and Ras Laffan.



The first round of the Al Furjan Football Tournament saw Al Dafna defeating Al Hilal 3-1, Al Wakrah defeating Dukhan 3-2, Al Mayeda defeating Haloul 7-1 and the fourth match between Al Sadd and Al Hazm resulted in a goalless draw.



The tournament provides an ideal opportunity for young people aged 16 years and above who are not on the Qatar Football Association (QFA) lists to show their talents and for new faces to emerge so Qatari clubs can leverage from.



QSFA organizes the Al Furjan Football Tournament almost every two months in different areas in Qatar to provide opportunities for Qatari youth to participate and to highlight and take advantage of the stadiums, which all would contribute to spreading sports culture.

2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers: Qatar Defeat Kyrgyzstan, Lead Group Ranking


The Qatari team defeated the Kyrgyzstan team 1-0 in its final match of the group stage of the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup.



The match took place Tuesday at the Changwon Stadium in South Korea.



The matches of the Qatari team will not be considered when calculating the group ranking since the team already qualified for the final tournament as the host country.



Elyas Hamid Barimil contributed heavily to the team’s third consecutive win after scoring the winning goal in the 51st minute.



With this win, Qatar leads its group ranking with 9 points, while the South Korean team has 3 points and both Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan have 1 point.



The Qatari team won its previous two matches against the host of the group’s matches and the 2020 champion South Korea 2-0, and against Myanmar 6-0.

The Qatari national taekwondo team won today the silver medal in the 2023 Beirut Open Taekwondo Tournament, ranked G1, for the junior category, held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, with the tournament running until Wednesday.



19 countries are competing in the tournament through 117 male and female athletes in the cadet category, 136 in the junior category, and 176 senior category.



Saad Nasser Sulaiti won Qatar the silver medal for the cadet category under 168 cm.



Qatari taekwondo athletes will stive to claim more medals in the tournament’s remaining days with the aim of winning glory for Qatar.
