Supply of drug substance manufactured under cGMP supports first-in-human clinical study for RBI-4000 novel self-replicating RNA (srRNA)

ALBANY, N.Y., Sept. 13, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Curia, a leading contract research, development and manufacturing organization, today announced that its partner, Replicate Bioscience, has received IND clearance from the FDA and has dosed the first participant with RBI-4000, a self-replicating (srRNA) rabies vaccine, in a Phase 1 clinical study utilizing clinical material developed as part of the collaboration with Curia.

Curia conducted process development, scale-up and cGMP manufacture of srRNA RBI-4000 drug substance. At approximately 10,000 bases, this srRNA is significantly larger than a conventional linear mRNA and has been historically difficult to manufacture at the scales required for clinical development. Curia’s analytical method development and qualification of the assays were also critical to the release of this srRNA molecule.

Libya floods: More than 5000 dead, thousands missing

The number of victims who died in the floods that struck cities in eastern Libya has risen to 5,300, while the number of missing people is estimated at thousands, according to the Libyan News Agency. An official with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies added said that about 10,000 people are missing after torrential rains and floods. The Libyan Roads and Bridges Authority said that the collapsed road network in the city Derna, where the largest death toll is registered, is estimated at 30 kilometers. It added that the collapse of 5 bridges downstream of the valley in Derna was observed, and the estimated affected area in the vicinity of the valley is estimated at 90 hectares. The Authority pointed out that the only road open to traffic is the ‘Dahr Al Hamar’ road.

Ministry underscores following with national vaccination program

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health for Primary Health Care and Epidemics Raed Shboul has emphasized the importance of adhering to the vaccination dates outlined in the national vaccination program, which includes basic and supportive doses administered from birth until the tenth grade. In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Wednesday, he announced that the Ministry had launched a nationwide vaccination campaign a month ago, which is being carried out in several stages. The first stage targets individuals who are either completely unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, or who frequently move within their residence, while the following stages will focus on vaccinating schools, care homes, nurseries, shelters, and reform and rehabilitation centers. The first phase aimed to vaccinate about 120,000 people, of whom more than 95 percent were vaccinated, he added. Since its inception in 1979, the national vaccination program has successfully reduced the incidence and spread of diseases in the Kingdom and lowered the rate of diseases and deaths among children, noted Shboul. He explained that the vaccines, provided for free for children of all nationalities, are approved by international health institutions and national medical committees and used worldwide, not just in Jordan. Jordan has accomplished numerous feats thanks to its implementation of this program, with the most notable being the cessation of transmission of the oral polio virus since 1992, the eradication of neonatal tetanus since 1995, and the management of other diseases that are transmitted, such as measles and rubella, he added. He pointed out that the ministry introduced more vaccines to provide better protection for children in recent years, such as the rotavirus and hepatitis A vaccines, and seeks to also include the pneumococcal vaccine and the chickenpox vaccine in the national vaccination program.

Israel postpones prisoner Manasra’s court date session

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society said that the Israeli occupation court in Ramla prison decided to postpone the trial session of prisoner Ahmad Manasra until September 20, despite his deteriorating health condition. The Prisoner’s Society explained, quoting lawyer Khaled Zabarqa, that the session was held in the presence of the defense team for Manasra’s case, two lawyers from the Adalah Center, his family, the Physicians for Human Rights Foundation, and representatives of foreign consulates and embassies. He pointed out that Manasra’s health and psychological condition has been getting worse compared to previous months, explaining that at the beginning of the session, the defense team was informed that Manasra could not be present, but after demands and insistence from the defense team on his presence, he was brought to court. It is noteworthy that the Israeli Prison Services (IPS) has continued to isolate Manasra, 22, in solitary confinement, since October 2021, despite his serious health and psychological condition. Several court sessions were held, whereas the most notable of these sessions were related to classifying his case as ‘terrorism,’ which obstructed the means for his early release. As a result of his psychological condition, an international campaign was launched in support of him, to demand his release, with the participation of many psychologists and international institutions. Manasra was sentenced to 12 years in prison and a fine of 180,000 shekels, and the sentence was reduced to nine and a half years in 2017.

Ibb Governorate.. Preparations to paint religious painting on anniversary of Prophet’s birthday

The people of Ibb Governorate are preparing to paint a picture of faith on the anniversary of the Prophet’s birthday, by decorating streets, neighborhoods, mosques, houses, gardens, squares and public places with green lights, banners, slogans and illuminated panels.

Victory lamps appear from the buildings, and on their facades are signs of pride in belonging to this nation, and expressions of love for the Prophet and loyalty to him.

Governorate Deputy Abdel Fattah Ghallab says: “Celebrating the Prophet’s birthday is an opportunity for the Muslim to renew and nourish his love for the Lord of creation.”

He added that the religious and moral values brought by the Messenger of God created a great impact on the human conscience, and created an unparalleled spiritual impression connected to the identity of faith.

For his part, the governor’s representative, Abdul Rahman Al-Zikri, confirmed that the anniversary of the birth is not a passing event that can pass peacefully, for decades Yemenis have been celebrating the day of the birth of the most honorable Messenger, and bringing blessings by praising him.

He said: “The decorations were not limited to the central event squares, but rather the streets and neighborhoods were decorated with lights, banners and slogans.”

He added, “Since that date, the Yemenis have engraved the status of the Messenger in the wall of their hearts, with love, affection, and followers, in all areas of life, and therefore they celebrate this sacred occasion with all warmth.”

For his part, the governorate’s advisor, Ammar Al-Shuaibi, stated that the celebration of the birth constitutes an annual season for further calling to imitate the Sunnah of the Chosen Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.

Deputy Director of the Works Office, Taha Abdel-Mughni, said that among the preparations that the governorate is witnessing on the anniversary of the birth of Khair Al-Anam, it also includes meetings, artistic and rhetorical events, in addition to mobilization.

He stressed that celebrating the birth is not limited to rituals, but has become a station for compassion and solidarity towards the poor and needy, helping the needy, and embodying the Qur’anic principles and prophetic morals on the basis of which the Noble Messenger, may God’s prayers.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of the Bonyan Foundation in Baadan District, Akram Dhafer, said: “It is enough for us, as a Yemeni people, to be proud that the Hijri year was given this name in reference to the blessed of our honorable Prophet Muhammad”

He explained that the Yemenis converted to Islam with a message without fighting, and they were the first to celebrate the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad, while he was alive, when the Ansar received him with verses that stuck in the minds of all Muslims.

Regarding the most prominent festive manifestations in the governorate, freed prisoner Khaled Al-Ra’ini says, “Decorating the walls of homes, homes, neighborhoods, streets, roads, and mountains with green lights creates a wonderful aesthetic picture that adorns the sky of the governorate.”

He points out that the Yemenis are distinguished from others in the manifestations of celebration through early preparation, hanging decorations, welcoming expressions, and painting vehicles, stressing that the Yemeni people lead the Arab and Islamic peoples in commemorating the noble birth of the Prophet.

The representative of Ahfad Bilal in Al-Sadda District, Abdo Al-Shajibi, says that the Yemenis are people of faith and wisdom and they are soft-hearted and gentle-hearted, they are doing all of this while under aggression and siege.

He continued, asking: How if this honorable birthday coincided with us being in security and stability, the Yemenis would have held a celebration that would amaze the world and draw its attention to it.

The children of Ibb have their own presence and way of celebrating this occasion, as they express it in the most beautiful ways they love by drawing on faces, writing the name of the Prophet “Muhammad”.

Ibb Governorate witnessing official movement to commemorate Prophet’s birthday

Ibb Governorate is witnessing a broad official and societal movement and momentum in preparation for commemorating the Prophet’s birthday.

This movement and interest comes from the position that this occasion occupies, which requires everyone to celebrate it and entrench it in the consciousness of generations to consolidate the connection with the Holy Messenger.

Where meetings and meetings continue to discuss arrangements and preparations to celebrate the memory of Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family.

The meetings and meetings focus on the plans and programs of various parties to celebrate this occasion, participate and mobilize for it at the governorate, offices and directorate levels.

In this regard, Ibb Governor Abdul Wahed Salah confirmed to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the governorate has been witnessing for more than twenty days extensive preparations and arrangements to commemorate the greatest religious occasion.

He explained that the Yemenis’ celebrations of the Prophet’s birthday every year draw the world’s attention with a level of warmth and interest in commemorating it on a large scale that is unparalleled on the Arab and Islamic levels.

He pointed out that the Yemenis are racing to prepare to commemorate the birth of the Greatest Messenger, as they are preparing and everything they can do in order to give this occasion its due respect and reverence.

Governor Salah stated that the Yemenis were the ones who supported the Holy Prophet and spread the Islamic call to all corners of the globe… stressing that the Yemeni people will continue to preserve their religion, rituals and principles.

He stressed the importance of this preparations honorable exit at the central event that Ibb Governorate will witness on the twelfth of Rabi’ al-Awwal.

The Governor of Ibb pointed out the significance of celebrating this occasion to express pride and connection to the Seal of the Prophets and the Master of Messengers.

He stated that the governorate launched, from the beginning of the month of Safar, a program to celebrate the Prophet’s birthday, by organizing cultural, religious, meetings, activities, lectures, and seminars in various neighborhoods, schools, clubs, institutes, universities, and institutions.

The Secretary-General of the Governorate’s Local Council, Amin Al-Warafi, considered the manifestations of readiness to commemorate this occasion… calling for a large and honorable gathering at the central event.

He reiterated the importance of highlighting the manifestations of happiness and joy in his honorable birth, by decorating the streets and neighborhoods to show Ibb Governorate in a joyful appearance befitting the greatness and status of the occasion.

In turn, General Mobilization Officer Yahya Al-Yousifi stressed the importance of the occasion in demonstrating loyalty and reverence for the Holy Messenger, in all ways and means.

The twenty governorate directorates and their executive offices are also witnessing a hectic race in arrangements and mobilization for festive events.
