Chevron Lummus Global and Saudi Aramco Sign LC-HOPI+ Collaboration and Licensing Agreement

RICHMOND, Calif., Dec. 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Chevron Lummus Global LLC (CLG) and Saudi Aramco announced that they have signed a Joint Collaboration and License Agreement to co-develop and license Saudi Aramco’s Heavy Oil Processing Initiative (HOPI+) technology.

HOPI+ aims to achieve relatively higher conversion of vacuum residue and other available heavy feeds, including incremental crude, using CLG’s LC-FINING platform (jointly referred to as LC-HOPI+). The LC-HOPI+ innovative process is expected to help minimize both CAPEX and OPEX and significantly improve margins for bottom-of-the-barrel upgrading.

In 2019, Saudi Aramco joined CLG at its research and development facility in Richmond, California, to create and develop the initial concept pilot testing. Success there led to further HOPI+ evaluations against different process schemes, which further helped quantify the technology’s added value.

Syrian-Russian Friendship Committee, Russian Ambassador discuss bolstering bilateral relations

Syrian-Russian Friendship Committee at the People’s Assembly and Russian Ambassador to Syria Alexander Yefimov discussed on Sunday aspects to strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and means to upgrade them, especially parliamentary relations.

Members of the Committee affirmed the significance of continuing joint work to serve the interests of the two countries and contribute to strengthen their unified stances at the international arenas, voicing appreciation over the Russia’s stances towards Syria at the international forums, and its active role in the fight against terrorism on the ground.

“Russia has been and remains willing to offer all support to Syria and its people” the Ambassador said.

He called for intensifying meetings between both sides to achieve the desired benefits and goals for the two friendly countries.

Yefimov noted that establishing branches of Russian universities in Syria is being discussed, and bolstering the cultural exchange, in addition to studying the reconstruction process and working to settle COVID-19 vaccine production in Syria.

Patriarch Younan: Syrian people are committed to homeland

Syriac Catholic Patriarch Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan said that the Syrian people are committed to their homeland despite wars and harsh conditions the country has passed through.

Patriarch Younan ‘s remarks came during his pastoral visit to Hasaka province.

In a statement to the media outlets after a mass at the Syriac Catholic Archdiocese in Hasaka, Patriarch Younan called for steadfastness and commitment to the land, pointing out to the clergymen role in the steadfastness of Christian community and their refusal to immigration.

The Patriarch expressed pleasures for his presence among the people of Hasaka province, and prayed that Syria will continue to be a symbol of civilization and openness, and that its inhabitants will be an example for future generations through their attachment to their roots.

Turkish regime’s mercenaries cut down hundreds of olive trees in Afrin

Turkish occupation mercenaries of terrorist organizations cut down hundreds of fruitful and forest trees in Afrin area in Aleppo northern countryside over the past few days to be sold to Turkish merchants.

“Terrorists affiliated to the so-called Sultan Murad, Jaysh al-Nukhba (Elite Army) Ahrar al-Sharqiya, Hamza Division ,and al-Jabha al-Shamiya cut hundreds of fruitful and forest trees in Midankey?, Hammam, Marwaniyah, Miska, Tatara, Teranda, Ayn al-Hajar and Ester villages, in Afrin area in Aleppo northern countryside, local sources told SANA.

The authorities of the Turkish regime facilitated the process of cutting the trees in preparation for their transfer to the Turkish lands to sell them later to Turkish merchants who work in the timber trade, the sources added.

People of Afrin condemned the criminal acts of Turkish occupation’s mercenaries against the civilians subjected to harassment to leave their homes and lands.

Mikdad stresses the need for avoiding any external interference in work of Committee of Discussing the Constitution

Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad met on Sunday United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen and the accompanying delegation.

The two sides discussed the latest development in Syria and the track of the political process.

Mikdad pointed out the destructive role of Turkish regime, and its aggressive and inhumane practices through not commitment to the results of Astana talks, as well as the Turkification policies in the areas it occupies, and cutting off water supplies to people in Hasaka which constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

“The practices of the Turkish regime are part of the continued support of the terrorist groups and its desperate attempts to hinder the consolidation of stability in Syria,” he added.

Pedersen, for his part, reviewed the track of his recent multi-country tour and the continued efforts to hold the next round of Committee of Discussing the Constitution.

Mikdad, in this regards, stressed the importance of avoiding any external interference in the work of the Committee, and the need for the dialogue to be a Syrian-Syrian and reflects the aspirations of the Syrians and not serve the agendas of countries hostile to Syria.

88 new coronavirus infections, 5 deaths recorded in Syria

88 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Syria and 100 patients recovered, while 5 others passed away, according to the Health Ministry.

The Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that the total number of infections registered in the country has reached up to 49,189 of which 30,376 have recovered, while the death toll has reached up to 2,809.

On March 22nd last year, the first coronavirus case was detected in a person who came from abroad, meanwhile the first fatality was reported on the 29th of the same month.
